THANKS!
A big thank you to Lois Chatfield and her fabulous Election Committee (Wendy Pauluk, Hannah Fry, Schie Bogar, Jeanine Thomas, Patti Olsen, Margaret Gant) who served us so well in our Annual Board Member Elction held in September. We appreciate whose who voted and participated in our Annual Meeting.
We would also like to express our gratitude to the past board members for their outstanding service. A warm thank you goes to Norm Nielsen, Reeding Roberts and Debbie Farnsworth. Another special thank you goes to Sandy Shephard who has served us in so many areas. We will miss her and wish her the best in her new home.
CONGRATULATIONS
Our new board members are Robin Reid, Anne Acosta and Leslie Ripley. Gerald Smith was re-elected and Cathi Spence continues to serve her term. Board members serve for 2 years and then must be re-elected if they desire to continue their service. The board has decided the following assignments:
Gerald Smith - Chairman, Grounds
Robin Reid - Vice Chair, Buildings
Anne Acosta - Treasurer
Leslie Ripley - Community Relations
Cathi Spence - Secretary
CLUBHOUSE
Debbie Farnsworth has graciously offered to manage our clubhouse this year. The clubhouse is available to residents for private parties for a $15 fee. Scheduling must be made in advance through Debbie and the rental fee must be paid by check to the order of Garden Park HOA. Anyone using the clubhouse is responsible for all clean-up afterwards including vacuuming, cleaning the kitchen and downstairs bathrooms and putting away any tables and chairs used. Renting the clubhouse does not rent the pool. We are all excited about the new carpet, paint and blinds in our clubhouse and we want them to stay in tip-top condition as long as possible.
FINANCES
Rich Wells of TPM went over our Financial Report and budget at the Annual Meeting. If you want a copy of the report contact TPM.
BOARD MEETINGS
Board Meetings are held on the 2nd Thursday of the month at 7pm in the clubhouse. Meetings are open to all residents but if you want to put an item on the agenda and address the board (maximum 10 minutes) you must notify the secretary (Cathi Spence) at least 3 days in advance.
PARKING
Each unit in Garden Park is assigned two permanent parking spaces, one covered and one uncovered. Residents are not to use visitor spots (green curbs) for daily use and are subject to towing if they do. Anyone who uses someone else's assigned parking spot if also subject to towing. Please be considerate of your neighbors. If you do not use both of your parking spots and would like to share with another resident, you are welcome to do so. Please contact the Board if you need help with parking issues.
REMINDER
No outside electrical cords are permitted from buildings to vehicles. Do not string any cords across sidewalks (including holiday lights).
WINTER
The Board has made arrangements for snow removal this winter. It is hard to predict what time they will arrive depending on the amount of snow we receive (2 inches or more). There are snow shovels and ice melt available to each building if anyone wants to volunteer to help keep their entrance clear.
Don't forget to remove outside hoses to prevent broken pipes and flooding.
Don't turn the thermostat below 60 degrees especially is you are going to be away for several days.
Locate the water valve turn-off inside your unit so you know where it is in case of an emergency. If that doesn't work, there is a water shut-off for each building (usually in the basement) that controls water to all the units in your building. If that doesn't work, Orem City will need to turn off the main water valve.
The Bylaws give the Board the authority to enter a unit in an emergency that could cause damage. The Board does not have keys to the units. It would be wise to leave a key and phone number with a neighbor or local relative.
